CH-17 - Harbourside Church [SOLD]

"Harbourside" is a post and beam church that has served the parishioners of a rural Nova Scotia community for over 100 years.
The footprint of this building is 20' x 30' with side walls approximately 12' tall. Three simple four-over-four windows flank each side of the church. The original exterior shingles are in excellent condition, beautifully weathered. The floors and interior walls are softwood planking, simply detailed.

Structural Details:

Footprint - 20' - 4 1/2 " x 30' - 5 1/2"
Height - Side Walls - 12" 3/4 " (Top of sill to top of top plate)
Overall Height - (Bottom of sill to top of exterior peak) - 21' -10"

Flooring - Softwood plank floor (3/4 x 6-8" wide), face nailed, over 6" x 6" hand hewn main beam running front to back and 5" x 5"(approx.) joist structure (see photo this page for main beam of joist system exposed). 9 sets of joists 36" on centre, no visible rot, crawl space very dry. Sills are hand hewn and sawn 6" x 6".

Rafters - Hand Hewn beams sawn into boards 2-3" x 5-6"
Posts - Hand Hewn 5" x 5", spacing varies between 23" and 40" on centre

Walls (Inside/Out)
1" T&G horizontal wood plank / posts / 3/4" sheathing planks / shingles.

Side Windows (Total of 6, four over four style) - 27"w x 60"h, plus trim boards 5"
wide, spaced evenly along side walls, and 3" above finished floor.

Front Window (above door)(4 pane fixed)
33"h x 27"w + lintel & trim boards 5" wide.

Shingles - Wood, 5" to the weather, grey, in very good condition.
